Jazzy T loves DC, and often proclaims that Washington DC is his “turf”; but who can really argue with him given the reputation he has built during Homecoming and other Pumpstation events. Jazzy never ever disappoints! He tends to perform at his best with competition from other DJs, and on Homecoming Friday, lets just say, he will need to be at his best.

Jazzy is confident this year will be one of the best homecomings with the artiste and DJs on the line up. He is thinking “maaaad vibes and full house”.

Its been several years since DC has seen “The Party Animal”

Kurt Riley is fixated with music and has the uncanny ability to transport patrons and listeners to new heights and musical enjoyment.. He can play music for hours and days on end with high tempo and vibes. This is why you should not take his nickname, “The Party Animal”, for granted. This guy makes you move.

Riley has been endorsed by one world renowned disc jock., respected British deejay Roy the Roach, who has dubbed him ‘the taxi’, because of what he describes as Riley’s ability to transport a party crowd.

“That boy is bad. I’ve crowned him the musical taxi. He can take you on a journey wherever you want to go. You say, ‘taxi driver I need to go there’, he says ‘ok’ and he takes you on the scenic route…Man…he’s a bad deejay…,” were Roy’s words of praise for the FAME FM jock. Just name the genre and he’ll play it. But be careful when you’re around him and he’s playing soca. Get out of the way, because he’s all over the place!

With a full DC Star, we should expect to see Kurt Riley at his utmost best.

ATTENTION!!!…and…At Ease! …DJ Private Ryan has risen exponentially in ranks over the years. He was given the name Private Ryan by disc jockey and radio personality Hypa Hoppa because he saw Ryan as the most promising and talented rookie Dj in Trinidad at the time. Ryan has since worked his way up the ranks, and is now seen by many as a DJ of the highest order. Believe us when we say he is no ‘petty officer’! – With incredibly quick hands and power of controlling the room with sound, Ryan could easily be retiled “Brigadier General Ryan”.

Most people recognize that Ryan, “He zah Trini”, yeh?…But he his renown for his command of almost all genres. Ryan’s is excellent at reggae/dancehall, and loves mixing hip hop, R&B, and mainstream pop hits.

After a two year hiatus from DC, expect Private Ryan to go hard.

Although we gave you the mama mix earlier this month (just in time for Mother’s Day), we really hadn’t given you a dose of reggae music in a while. If you appreciate good reggae music, then you will surely be vitalized with this mix!! We promise! We got carried away ourselves while doing this one…and didn’t realize the time until the mix was over the 90 minute mark…so be prepared for a hour and a half of good reggae one drop.

We start out very smooth with some of the most talented reggae artistes today. We are talking about Stephen Marley, Proteje, Damian Marley, Kymani Marley, Beres Hammond… We talking the real “rub a dub soldiers”!! These are the some of the names that are really carrying the torch for real reggae music; ensuring that reggae’s roots remain planted!! One of our favorite is that Beenie Man and Beres Hammond…wicked tune!! Real reggae vibes!!

Expect a mix of the latest and not so new reggae tracks…just a very nice blend. All new is never really good anyways…

With all the news, emotions and excitement surrounding the death of Bin Laden’s, many people lose track of the fact that Mother’s day is just around the corner. Well, Pumpstation Ent never forgets the most important woman around, so we did this podcast for everybody who love, honor, and respect their mother.

So what’s in this one-hour podcast? Simply put this is a mix with reggae songs dedicated to Mama. There are some old songs but there are also some newer songs. Its frightening how many mama songs are out there – We tried to put as many of the popular ones in the mix, but don’t be surprised if there are one or two songs missing… There will be other mixes.

Here we go… another Pumpstation Entertainment dancehall mix. After a long break from podcasting, we returned with Rawkus promo mixes, and now a solid hour and a half of dancehall for all those ipods and mps3 players. Since the mix is long, we also create a shortened 80 minute version for those who want to burn it on CD.

So what should you expect….

Well, the usual Pumpstation shellingzzzzz. We start out with some hard hitting “thug-conscious” tunes… think I-Octane, Zamunda, Mavado, and the works…. Early fyaaah for on badmind and pagans from Octane and Chan Dizzy.

You know we always do the thing for the ladies so we switch up the thing and the ladies can expect some good tunes from Kartel, Mavado, Beenie Man and Charlieeeee Blacks. Lots of Kartel, even though him a bleach the tune them going hard.

Over the eight years the simple philosophy of this now calendar event has not changed – simply put, Rawkus is the fusion of beautiful and attractive Caribbean-natured people, a good mix of music, and the most inveigling vibe. Consider one partygoer about Rawkus over the years: “Rawkus is like a fam/college reunion where you get to party with old friends. Add in level vibes, great people and hits tune after hit tune = an excellent event”

Ready again!! Here we go!! Another nice bouncy dancehall podcast! Just short of the hour mark, but this mix has a lot to offer the ladies – cause we put the ladies first. So we start out with a few tunes addressing the plight of the less fortunate… and if you know anything bout dancehall music then you know Bounty Killer/Cham could be poor people’s prime minister and deputy or president/vice president depending on where you from. After those tunes, we go right to the ladies!! Lots of dancing tunes, mixed in with some matey/wifey tune…you done know how we do it. So hear wah – “big up all the gyal dem weh nah bleach and dem nose nuh big like sweet peppa” (LOL); Expect to hear some Kartel and Matterhorn with the ‘bruck out’ tunes of today. After a long break, we are back at it again – Pumpstation podcast!!! As usual we like to kick things off with some of the hottest dancehall.

We start off the mix with a few tunes biggin’ up the “Almighty”!! Mavado and Aidonia have a couple of big hitters in the early segment. We then go into some very recent and prominent dancehall riddims, which should have most healthy heads boppin’.

Its been a long time so we were forced to squeeze a lot of music in a one hour podcast. This podcast is still missing a lot of tracks so we will do another within a week or so…..stay tuned.

Its been a little while since we gave you some nice bouncy R&B anthems on the streets, and a little bit of hip-hop… so now is the time! Washington DC was under siege from a history making blizzard, so we thought it would be nice to throw out something fresh for those stuck in the ‘crib’. As usual we start the mix nice and smooth featuring some tracks from Rihanna and Alicia keys new albums. Not every track on the mix is ‘new’ … we like to spice it up a little with some of those preferred but ‘not so new tracks’. On the mix we also feature hits form JayZ’s Blue Print 3 (wicked album this yuh nuh).

Another wicked reggae “one drop” mix. Trust me on this one – if you enjoy the sweet and soulfully melodic sounds of true reggae music then this episode will definitely hit the spot. This is relatively new stuff, but don’t get it twisted – This approximately one hour and fifteen minutes mix features music from some of the most unmistakable and genre defining voices of reggae. The likes of Beres Hammond and Freddie McGregor have transcended generations and still gives us consistent quality chart topping music throughout the years. Then there are the new stalwarts – The likes of Tarrus Riley, Queen Ifrica and Etana who are now charged with the responsibility of keeping the reggae flame burning. Peeps,

From the feedback we got, the last podcast was a really nice dancehall mix with some of the latest hits. And although there was the little buzzing noise in the background, many still can’t stop playing it. We promised a couple of people to either replace it with another or do another mix… so we went with the latter.

Of course, no two podcast can be the same, so don’t expect to hear the same songs from the last dancehall mix. Plus, there is so much music out there that we decided we better put some of the others on this one….

The stage is quickly set for Podcast #39 with a few hard hitting hits from Daniel “Chino” McGregor. With music running through his veins (since his father is Freddie McGregor), Chino is a great talent and has established himself as one of Jamaica’s most prominent and promising young artiste. In fact, the first five or six tracks are all produced by Chino and his brother, Stephen “Di Genius” McGregor, as they take over the steering wheel of the Big ship label in the 21st Century.

Pumpstation Podcast is back from a long and extended break. We apologize to our many subscribers who we left out in the cold and had to live through several months without this musical vitamin. We had several challenging issues, which we have managed to put to rest. We are now stronger and more resolved as we bring you the latest and best mixes for your listening pleasure.

So, to kick off our ‘first in a long time’ podcast we have to do it with current dancehall. We start this vibezy one-hour mix with some concious dancehall with the likes of Stephen “the Genius” McGregor and Mavado blazing fire on badmind. We also feature the very popular “Better Life” Riddim with Konshens and “The Realest Song”, a song asking for guidance from Jah Jah to keep his mind and heart clean.

The pace is stepped up a little with recent hits like, Holiday (Ding Dong) and Skip to Ma Luu (Serani). Other riddims on this mix includes, Mash Up, National Pride, and Tripple Bounce riddim.

Miami Carnival has passed, so all eyes are now focused on the much anticipated Howard’s Homecoming weekend.

Over the years, Pumpstation Entertainment has brought you un-paralleled Caribbean entertainment on the Friday of the week-long Homecoming, and (for sure) October 23, 2009 will be another flashy affair in the “Homecoming Friday” chapter…Yes, the official 2009 Homecoming Caribbean Celebration will be held at Zanzibar on the Waterfront, on Friday, October 23, 2009.

Our package this year will see the return of the crowned king of dancehall – Doctor Beenie Man!!! Several years ago Pumpstation Entertainment brought the wiry DJ to Howard’s Homecoming and he proved why he is aptly dubbed “The Maestro” and “Ultimate Crowd Pleaser”.

An audacious comparison was made by a popular newspaper, saying the stellar dancehall artiste ‘Beenie Man’ could easily be considered Jam Rock’s and dancehall’s answer to the late Michael Jackson. His reach and impact are nowhere near that of the iconic King of Pop, but there’s a certain je ne sais quoi about the King of the Dancehall that justifies this claim.

Needless to say the consummate entertainer’s never fails to deliver the most scintillating performances. Expect to be thoroughly entertained!!!

On the DJ and sound system side of things, Pumpstation Entertainment always brings the best!! (errr…Period!)

Foreign Bass is the new kid on the block for Rawkus this year, but don’t be fooled, the sound is definitely not ‘foreign’ to Washington DC’s soca fans. Foreign Bass has been a prominent fixture in many DC Carnival events, and is known all over the world as the Big Bad Foreign Bass. In fact, the only thing ‘foreign’ about this sound is the fact that they have been spreading their wings globally, and has performed in many countries and was featured Dj of the annual Sokashocka IX in Trinidad’s Carnival. Soca lovers are in for treat when Garth touches the Rawkus stage.

T’was some six years ago on cool March night, that an invigorating concept in Caribbean entertainment was introduced in the Washington Metro. Yes, the event known today as RAWKUS will see its sixth staging at Zanzibar on the Waterfront, on Saturday, March 28, 2009.

Fittingly, we start the podcast with “Anything for You“, a bomber from 1995 featuring a host of entertainers from Beenie Man, Buju Banton, Snow, Nadine Sutherland, Louis Culture and Terror Fabulous. As usual, I won’t give away too much about this podcast, except to say that the mix will take you on a musical journey through a very “scenic” and engaging route. Well Christmas time is here again, and Pumpstation Entertainment won’t be the Grinch. So we kick of this Dancehall podcast with a couple of new Christmas sounding bangers. Of course we know Busy Signal is a master at words, so his Christmas tune kicks of the mix. I won’t give away too much about this podcast; except to say that the mix starts out steadily before the tempo increases exponentially to ‘daggerin’ proportions. The podcast is also a little longer than our usual mix (about one hour), going approximately one hour and 20 minutes. This will be the final dancehall for the year. Stay tuned for another podcast in two weeks.

Yow, it’s been a little while since we featured some R&B and hip-hop. The last mix we did was a mainstream pop-like mix in January (podcast 19) but it continues to be a hit with the masses and ranks in the top ten of the most loved and downloaded podcast. This PumpCast should be loved by one and all because it has something for everyone. There are lots of music for the ladies including Beyonce’s “put a ring on it”, and some strong tracks for the thugs. For those who like the dancehall.hip hop remixes, you will be satisfied with Kartel’s Paper Plane remix….Maaad!!
